When we boil water in Playa Samara Costa Rica, when we are done, there is a pretty thick residue at the bottom, almost like a paste (the pan is aluminum). We don't consequently, drink what's on the bottom. What is that? Are those minerals separating out or the aluminum pan leaching aluminum? The water is beginning to bother both of our throats and my wife doesn't drink the boiled water anymore.
Is it white? Might be limescale if so. That's caused by the water being "harder" than elsewhere (ie, higher mineral contents).
might just be mud but sounds like a filter or bottled is in order. look for pitting in the surface of the pot
