Finding Work in Koh Samui

Hi everyone.

One thing going for you is that December is high season for hotel bookings, usually more tourists means more business, etc. Flip side is that you are a foreigner! Restaurants that hire foreigners will probably be some a big name expensive place or in a major hotel.

To legally work in Thailand you will need a work permit. The bomb going off has affected tourism maybe hotels are probably reluctant to hire anyone now. But I don't think this is ever an easy job to get even if you could work longer and speak Thai.

Perhaps a big hotel corporation that has a business in Koh Samui might be interested. Providing you have a good resume. I don't think an ordinary Thai restaurant would pay wages you want.

Thai Visa Forum goes into Visas and Work Permits. You can't legally work on a tourist visa. Go to their specific area forum too, perhaps someone will notice your request.

Thailand is being a little more particular who is being hired as teachers. Maybe too many pervs and assorted criminals. Working on a tourist vissa can get you arrested too. There is a teachers forum in the above link. Also Ajarn might be helpful too.

When it gets cold in Europe and North America many foreigners want to work and live in warm tropical locations. There are other cities in Thailand if you are desperate!
