Ok so I've bit the bullet and finally decided I have to get away after my life was turned upside down in a year. So I'm after help and advice please. I spent 12 years with a girl so it's strange now being alone I have to do this. I can quite easily meet and get on with anyone. So I know I'll meet new friends for life. I don't know how to start this yes Apply for a visa is my first port of call. If there is anyone who fancies swapping exsperiances that's great. Or maybe we could get to know each other and travel together either way thanks. Jordan

I'm new on here but I saw your post and thought I'd say hello!
Me and my boyfriend are going to Australia in January (via Thailand) we want to work in Perth, buy a car and move on through Australia working and road tripping then New Zealand and lots of other places. But we'll probably be in Australia for nine months. It'd be cool to know someone else going!
Visa wise, you're a year older than my boyfriend and 31 is the age when the visa changes but I think you're just young enough to be ok. And Skyscanner has some really cheap flights!
You do have to take a minimum amount of money over there in your bank account which is a pain.
Anyway we are fun people so let us know if you'll be around and good luck with it all! And good plan to get away from it all in Australia it'll be so fun!

I travelled solo to Australia after my boyfriend ended our relationship 4 days before i flew out to meet him. I started off in Port Hedland, Western Australia. It was amazing and had such a tight knit community! I met friends for life in this place and people are so helpful! The town is full of travellers from each corner of the world let me tell you! I know there are a lot of French people there. The town is very expensive and i doubt you want to start in a small mining town, but if you do.. google beforehand! I then went to work in Perth. I am so jealous of you doing this and I wish I could do it all over again! Best of luck, take lots of photographs and be happy!
