Hey I'm from Canada and currently in Canada, I am off to Peru in a month then from there headed to Aus to work. I already have my WHV I just want to open my bank account before I leave for Peru. Does anyone have suggestions for which of the "big 4" banks I should go with?! Just looking for the most convenient, must have internet banking, no paper statements, lowest monthly rates and easily transfer my money from my Canadian bank account to the new one. Thanks!!
A little late! But Commonwealth Bank is amazing! They have an app and you can transfer between accounts in seconds! They also have an excellent travel card as well which gives good rates! And nearly every 7/11 in Aus has a commonwealth cash machine so you don't get charged for a withdrawal.
Hey, I just got to OZ last week and I got my bank account setup before I arrived. I went with Commonwealth Bank. You can just go online and setup everything so when you arrive in OZ all you have to do is show your passport. I did mine a few weeks before I arrived so the bank even had my debit card already. It was so easy. Cheers!
