I live in London and I'm planning on going to Australia next year on the WHV. Back in 2013 I got arrested and cautioned for possession of a class A drug. I was such an idiot and it was a ridiculous thing to do, but just wondering if anyone has any advice on whether it will affect my visa? I've been looking into this for months and from what I've read it seems that Australia and the U.K do not share criminal databases and records (unless obviously you're a suspected terrorist). From what I've read, I should answer no on the vids application when it asks if I have any cautions, convictions etc. However, if further down the line I want to apply for Australian citizenship then they will do a thorough check of my UK record and will frown upon the fact I said 'No' on my WHV. So...I'm thinking of saying 'Yes' on my WHV. Apparently they will ask for details of the caution/circumstances etc, but from what I've read they are not bothered about drug cautions. They're more worried about immigration, terrorism etc. Can anyone clarify if this is the best thing for be to do or does anyone have any advice? I could potentially want to apply for citizenship in the future, so I don't want to mess up on my WHV!
