Car sharing / Hitch-hike Spain

Hi everyone,
I'm new and this is my first post.
I'm a 23 years old italian girl, I love travelling and I'm currently living in Barcelona.

A friend has recently used this in Spain and recommended it: I can't vouch for it myself but my friend said it was safe and easy, and it seems to be popular these days.

Hi bex76, thanks for your reply
I already know blabla car, but they have like 10% commissions, and now I want to save as much money as possible.
It seems this app notaxi offers same service for free, you can decide the price and see if someone accepts it.
It's also pretty easy to use but I don't know if I should trust them as it's not as popular as blabla car

Bla Bla Car, the company recommended by bex76 is currently advertising on Spanish television and is indeed very popular. It is basically a ride sharing service, so the more people share the ride, the cheaper the price will be in the end. This is not always the case, as sometimes the drivers have fixed prices per person. Recently they've indeed imposed a fee or commission, but I think it is still worthwhile considering this option.

Public transport in general is also an excellent option to get around Andalucia and not very expensive. It is an easy way to visit mayor cities like Malaga, Seville, Granada, Cordoba etc., because there are several connections per day. You can find more information on the website . This is not the only bus company in Southern Spain; you may find other local companies which are as good or even better than ALSA. Just ask the locals wherever you are in Andalucia :-)

Another option would be renting a car. The advantage is, that you can go wherever you want, which makes it ideal to discover the more hidden away places. Make sure not to go for the first cheap offer you find, because that can turn out to be much more expensive than expected.

If you are interested in the tricks used by some car hire companies in Spain to get as many bookings as possible, look for complaints from customers who booked car hire apparently cheaper than bike rental. It is difficult to understand why people still fall for these tricks, but a simple search on any major travel form on the internet will return dozens of examples of people being ripped off by such kind of offers. So if you go for car hire do your homework and watch out for the pitfalls mentioned.

Whatever means of transport you choose I'm sure you will have a great time, because Andalucia is a fantastic destination with a lot of things worth seeing!

Hello Lucrecia, I've checked with some friends in Spain about the app you mentioned, but nobody seems to use it. BlaBlaCar on the contrary seems to be very well know and trusted. It was used a lot by students in the past, but now many types of people seem to use it.

In case you're thinking about renting a car, make sure to read the fineprint before you book, because car hire companies in Andalucia nowadays have a very agressive price policy and you will be able to find offers for car hire cheaper than bike rental (see this article: -snip-)

Common sense tells us, that this is obviously not very likely, but there are always people who believe in miracles

Always read the fineprint and in case of doubts, just ask: if it is a genuine offer the car hire company will be more than happy to explain all the ins and outs of their rental conditions.

Enjoy your stay in Andalucia !!
