Passports

I am going to Oz for 6 weeks via Abu Dhabi on xmas day but cannot find my UK passport can I leave and return to UK on my Oz passport?

As with almost all questions regarding Visas you fail to give enough details for anyone to answer your question. Who knows what your legal status is in the UK... are you visiting as a New Zealand tourist (not requiring a Visa) or are you there studying or working on a Visa issued in New Zealand or are you living there as a UK citizen so this entire discussion is all a moot point?

Having both UK and NZ citizenship/passports makes it appear that you'd be fine exiting/entering the UK, but who knows what your real status is. Have you researched what documents you require to return "home" to the UK without a passport?

In any case with simple Visa travel questions it's always best to go right to the government source so you know the situation. This is not difficult research.

1.) The UAE Embassy says your NZ Passport is fine for transit: http://uae-embassy.ae/Embassies/au/Content/775

2.) The UK Embassy says your NZ Passport is fine to enter the UK under most circumstances: https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration

Good luck with your research.

Cheers,
Terry

This is a tricky one - Leaving UK looks ok but going back is problematic I think.

Obviously you can enter Australia with an Australian Passport & if you read through you can return to the UK AS A TOURIST.

So - you may need a visa to enter the UK to stay longer than a tourist visa allows. You might be able to apply for UK emergency travel documents when you are in Australia but I doubt you can claim you lost your UK passport there as you will enter Australia on the Australia passport

Here is a link for Australian going to UAE

Best of luck with this.
Steve

Obviously had a total brain fart above, mixing up Australia and NZ. Sorry about that. All the advice is still valid though.

Cheers,
Terry, who must stop posting during Happy Hour, haha...
