Name of city in map system

Hi,
When I type "Mainz", the German city on the Rhine, into the map destination box, it comes up as "Mayence". This is the French name for the city. The tool tip says "Mayence". Any reason for this?
Any way of changing it to the proper name?
Thanks,
Glynn

The naming is taken straight from a Google feed, so nothing much we can do about it. You can however edit the name afterwards or try just type Mainz, Germany without clicking on the autocomplete. It actually still manages to work out where that is and use the name that you chose.

Not sure why Google is returning the French name though - that is kind of weird

I've noticed Google doing this if you are working on a computer which has its language set to something else (in my case usually Norwegian). But even then I've always been able to get the English version up if I keep typing.

Hi,
I have changed the name manually. My computer is set to English (New Zealand). I tried the Mainz, Germany but it does not find it at all.
Cheers,

I've got to admit, that one has me stumped. Maybe the person entering it into the system on Google's end was French and bore a grudge... I did notice that if you type "Mainz, Germany" and just hit enter even though nothing comes up in the auto-suggest, it still maps it to the right place. On our end we end up saving that in the same way as you have probably entered it now, ie. the Location input field set to Mayence, Germany (lat 49.9949895, long 8.26732000000004), and the Custom label set to Mainz, Germany.
