Travelling first time advice

Hi Guys,

Gary, your question is way too general to answer. No one can give you advice on budget or destinations when you don't even bother to say what currency your 3K is.

You need to do a little research on your own then come back with at least minimal information like your previous travel experience and where you might be interested in going.

Cheers,
Terry

Hi Terry,

Its in pounds I am looking to have around 7000 pounds, and I would like to do asia and then onto oz, New Zealand and Fiji.

I would like to go for 12 months.

I am all new to this never done any travelling before.

Cheers

Gary

im taking around £1700 to peru for 5 weeks. im no expert, but to live even in hostels and travelling ull probably need more than £7000 for aus and new zealand.

Gary, since you're a first time traveller your budget is WAY too small for an entire year. 7,000 GBP is less than 20 quid per day (and that's not even including flights) so to begin that means stroking off your list ALL developed nations (like Australia, New Zealand, etc.) Also, forget about air travel during your trip - you don't even have enough for the initial flight to your destination and the flight home.

On that skinny budget you need to narrow your research to very inexpensive destinations like the Indian Subcontinent, SE Asia, parts of Central/South America, etc. and to also re-think your 12 month time frame - there's no way you can afford to be away for that long.

Have fun with your research.

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks Terry,

I am now gonna re plan,

The Internet, Google, the library, etc. are all good places filled with ideas... do a little research and you'll be able to stretch your limited funds for a great trip abroad...

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

If your interested in going to Australia and New Zealand you could always get a work visa and pretty much break even while your there, then use the remainder of your money to travel south east asia like Terry suggested.

Good Luck with your travels!

Ana

Gary, I would suggest you to use your money to have more than one trip rather than a long vacation of 1 year. It is always better to take breaks from your work for a short time, so that your vacation won't affect your work and also you will feel to come back to work.

I will never love to go for such a long vacation, as it will also get you bored. So try to take break of 4-5 weeks ideally once a twice a year and enjoy.

Think over it.

Hi Guys,

I am bored with work and what to do some traveling,

At present I have about 3k worth of funds,

Ideally looking to go for a year, starting Jan 12.

How much money do you think I would need,

Also any advice of where to go will be great.

I know this is very open, but all advice I can get will be fantasic.

Or if any one is interested in coming let me know.

Thanks

Gary

I got lots of questions for you since your post is pretty much vague. You would need a lot of money depending on how many cities/countries you'd like to visit. Also, you need to start saving more than just 3k (I'm assuming that's in dollars?).
