2 weeks in Eastern Europe Itinerary

The route sounds manageable for 2 weeks, if you'd stay for 2-3 days in each city. For Vienna I'd say 2-3 days is more than enough to see the usual highlights. I've been to Munich for 1 day and also saw quite some touristy stuff, but if you like to see more than the average tourist attractions, it might be nice to be there a bit longer.

For Slovenia you could go to Ljubljana? That can be reached quite well from Zagreb, as far as I know, if you go by train/bus.
Do you want to enter and leave from the same city? Otherwise it could also be an option to start in for example Vienna, and end in Salzburg/Munich. If you include the last part, I guess the days to spend in the cities would be then about 2, rather than 3 or so.

Vienna is rather expensive in hostelling, but foodwise it's not too bad. Budapest, Zagreb and Slovenia will do with a smaller budget.

Hi Beau I did a very similar trip with my girlfriend last summer. We started in Prague then cauggt the train to Vienna. Then train to Budapest. After that we went to Ljubljana, Slovenia. We changed trains in Zagreb but didnt stay there because ive been before and not a huge fan. Then after seeing alot of Slovenia we got a train down to the Rijeka in Croatia and stayed for a week in a fantastic hotel by the coast. We stayed for 3 nights in each city so the whole trip took around 3 weeks. Bratislava is also worth a visit if you are in Vienna. To make it circular you can easily get a train from Ljubljana to Vienna. Budapest is one of the best cities in Europe. I have been 4 times and keep going back! Slovenia is also my favourite country in Europe.fantastic scenery, people and cheaper than other alpine countries. Hope this helps. Tom

I would recommend spending more time in Budapest than Vienna. The two cities are very similar (they used to be one country). I feel Budapest is more interesting. Also, I would put Salzburg as a must on your list. You could probably do it in a day provided you arrive early.

I agree with morro. Spending more days in Budapest is way more interesting. Vienna is small and there's not much to see, but Budapest could take you like a week to see everything. It is not only beautiful, but the food is great and the nightlife is awesome, you should check out one of the pub crawls there too.

You chose quite really good place. Not too ordinary for those who want to travel in Europe. I think it would be better if you consult with an agency on your itinerary since you chose quite too many places in just two weeks. Maybe they could make an efficient itinerary for you.
