Shoes - What to take to Asia?

Hello all,

Take comfortable shoes, for walking. I had trainers as well as shoes but due to their thin soles, the heat went straight through them down south.

I found socks more of a problem on one of my 7 week trips to India. I wore out most of several pairs (all black, so if one is no good I can throw that away but not the other).

Flip flops are good if you can get on with them. I couldn't.

I would recommend wearing a pair of old and light sneakers that are comfortable in hot weather and that you may not be sorry to throw away after india.

I wouldn't wear flip-flops as hygienic conditions are very poor and you can easily get fungus.
However, they are handy for taking shower or on maybe on the beach.

You will need walking boots only if you go trekking in the himalayas.

Thanks Cyberia, good tip on the socks front will help me quite a bit. Anything you would say is a must-see on my trip to India (i'm there for about 3 weeks so got a bit of spare time)?

Right well i've got a comfy pair of shoes, some old trainers - they're pretty sturdy, fairly sure they'll last me. My girlfriend has won some Havaianas but've told her they wont be much use, look like they'll fall apart to me.

Thanks for your help guys! Great first experience of this forum

I wish we could say the same about you folks working at cloggs.co.uk, but the fact that you are spamming these forums doesn't really bode well for your brand. Actually, doesn't the UK have laws about misrepresentation?! Shame on you.

Definitely a good pair of comfy, lightweight walking shoes for the more adventurous days. I usually wear flip flops just walking around town and haven't had any fungus issues but that's me. If you're worried about that stuff then like the other poster said up there they are good for the beach and around your room.

Hello all,

Just finalised my trip to India in june i've got all my other essentials sorted but I have no idea what kind of footwear to take. I know this is a bit of a random topic but I was hoping someone on here would be able to help me out?

I was thinking of taking a decent pair of walking boots and then a pair of flip flops or something for the days where i'll just be chilling

I think it would be better if you use trainers or something comfortable for walking. Boots is just a bit too tacky. Flipflops are okay but make sure they are really durable.

I would take a solid pair of walking/hiking shoes that are really comfy and breathable and a pair of flip flops. Flip flops are a dime a dozen in asia so if they break - no worries!
