I'm planning doing my DM course on Koh Tao, Thailand and if you're interested or have the same plan as me, let's get together as i'm sure it's more fun doing this as a group.
Hey I am not thinking about doing a DM but I am planning on spending a few nights in Koh Tao around 6-10 August and dive there!
I did my DM there last year - I went to do my open water any ended up staying 3 months! Was at DJL where the guys are really lovely!
There wont be a shortage of travellers when you get there so dont worry about going on your own. You'll have an amazing time, so jealous. And gutted I'm not still there now!
Mindymoo...
I'll be at Simple Life Koh Tao by then. If you happen to drop by, just look for Ed. Look forward to welcome you in Koh Tao.
Victoria...
I'm sure you missed the Island a lot. DJL is a nice place however i choosed Simple Life after much consideration. It's smaller than DJL and less DM Internship which mean more chances for me to interact with divers. I'm sure Koh Tao is a great place for diving as it's one of those places that produces plenty of dive professional. Don't forget it's summer and what else can we ask apart from being at sea everyday!!!
Hi Ed
I have the same plan as you, except I will most likely be commencing the internship at the beginning of July until the beginning of September.
I managed to get a return flight to Bangkok for £299, only 100 tickets at that price on Flightcentre.co.uk so I was bloody lucky!
Does anyone have any recommendations for what dive centre to go with? I really don't know who to choose as there are quite a lot on Koh Tao!
For example, Crystal Dive has won a lot fo awards, but some of the reviews online aren't that great.
Hi vialli25,
I've faced the same dilemma as you and i've gone through hours looking over the internet searching for the right place. For me, i've choosen Simple Life for several reasons.
1. Listed as one of top ten dive center in Koh Tao
2. Medium size dive shop with constant flow of divers
3. Affordable price
4. Very professional & helpful staff (plenty of emails with them and got all my enquiries answered flawlessly)
5. Not much comments can be found online which mean not much complaints (just my assumption)
Btw, Koh Tao produces plenty of divers all year long and if you're not sure which to go to, i suggest you go visit several IDC before making a decision. I you happen to choose the same as me, see you 1st of August then!
Ed
