I'm leaving for Nicaragua on May 19 and my passport expires on Nov.1, 2011. Consulate of Nicaragua says it should not be an issue. Airline says it is up to the discretion of the agent. Anyone have experience with this? Should I get a rush passport made up and pay the extra $70 fee!
Chances are you're safe since it's not under the 6 mo limit (as I count), but why not be safe and renew (you'll sleep better).
Impossible to answer your question when you give no clue as to your nationality. With ALL queries regarding Passports, Visas, Immigration, etc. your Nationality is the MOST important issue.
For example, if you're American then Nicaragua and the US share a bilateral agreement that waives the six-month validity passport requirement - this agreement is not shared between many other nationalities.
Bottom line: Can't answer your question, but in general international travel with less than 6 months validity on your Passport (like yours) is a bad idea except in specific cases regarding specific nationalities and specific destinations.
Have fun.

Daawgon, May 19th (when the OPer leaves) to November 19th is six months. The OPer's Passport expires before then, on November 1st.
Cheers,
Terry
