Hey guys! (:
Where will you be working in Vancouver?
What is your monthly budget for rent and utilities?
Cheers,
Terry
I don't know yet. I've got a working holiday visa so I'm going to be job hunting once I'm there.
Just exploring some options
Sorry that's not very helpful!

If you're here looking for work and need some cheap(ish) accomodation, I'd stay at the Waldorf close to Commercial and Hastings. It's comparatively cheap and it's a hotel. There's also a VERY basic room place run by BECKWOMAN'S that used to be cheap to stay at...But it is fricking basic, man.
Piecar, any clue what a weekly or monthly rate would be at the Waldorf?
Cheers,
Terry
cheap but nice
Contradiction in terms for this place-where everything is wildly overpriced.
The YWCA gets good reviews http://www.ywcahotel.com/
The Buchan is in a good area http://www.buchanhotel.com/
Maybe the St Clair? http://stclairvancouver.com
The Ambassador Hotel has been described to me by someone who stayed there as a 'hole'.
Also-DO NOT stay @ the Patricia OK?
I think staying in a hotel long term will slaughter any budget the OPer has. These might be better options:
1.) http://vancouver.kijiji.ca/f-real-estate-room-rental-roommates-W0QQCatIdZ36
2.) http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/roo/

Terry
Ah thank you!!!
Will do abit of research into this!
I'm worried that I'm going to end up stuck in hostels! And when I'm staying for maybe a year that's not ideal haha
I think I'm just rubbish with Internet research
Thanks again ))
Kjiji and Craig's List will give you load of options for all manner of housing.
Good luck and have fun.
Cheers,
Terry
I second not staying at the Patricia....from bitter experience. It was the first thing I saw getting off the bus my first time in Van. Mistake, baby.
The Waldorf like fifty a night, which is cheap here. But the rate drops wildly for long term staying. I'll check for you to give you an accurate reading. It's real close to me. It' right near the Drive, so there's lots of interesting places to go within walking distance too.
