A friend and I are planning to go to Spain and France in middle to end November.
Would LOVE suggestions on where to go and especially cheapest modes of transport (from Spain to France and also within Spain and France) and budget accommodation (single room for 2 and a kitchen).
About us, we are in our mid twenties and have only 10 days to travel Both can drive and very excited in doing both the local and touristy things in each country!
You are trying to do too much in too short a time. Some of the places deserve days and you only have one day each on average including travelling which can take a long time.
Maybe Seville, Madrid, Barcelona and a flight to Paris? (Girona to Beauvais by Ryanair where you can get a 15 euro shuttle into Paris) Then a train to Versailles if you have the time.
Train is the quickest way of getting about in Spain though bus is cheaper and far slower.
Use the Accommodation link at the top of the page. You might get a shared kitchen in some hostels but don't count on it. That is mostly for expensive apartments only.
As to driving, most of the places you mention aren't car friendly and you would get hit with a massive one way charge if you picked up a car in Spain and dropped it off in France. You could however always get a car for the day and return it where you picked it up. BUT while car rental is quite cheap in Spain, it is very expensive in France.
I just went to France and Spain last June. In 15 days I:
landed in Paris and did the catacombs and a segway tour in one day--zombie tired
2 days in Bordeaux with a wine tour
2 days in San Sebastian
3 days in Madrid tapas and segway tours, hop on hop off bus
4 days in Barcelona hop on hop off bus
2 days in Sitges
24hr layover in Amsterdam
all by train except for Amsterdam
Be careful with trying to do too much. You underestimate how much time it takes to get from one place to another and you won't have time to really look around and rest when you need to.
