I am going for a 3-day trip to London on January 24-27 2013
The weather varies a lot in London. I live just outside and work in London. Pack for all weathers. It could be snowing, you just never know until the forecast says. It'll most likely be wet/windy though and moderately cold. It's been pretty mild for 3-4 weeks. I'd go for layers.
Food and drink is expensive but where are you coming from so I can compare?
What places to see depends on your interests.Are you interested in History? If so there's so much to see.
For cheap clothes head for Oxford Street and the Marble Arch end of it where you'll find a huge Primark store.
