Lima to Torres Del Paine...best methods of travel?

Hello fellow travelers!!

That isn't much money if you are on the move. Money lasts longer when you stay in one place for a time. But let's see. SKY Airlines is a Chilean company which flies between Lima and Santiago. You could check the price of flights. But then you have to get to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales and it is high season. You could bus to Puerto Montt and fly from there, which would lower the costs a bit.

You can get to Salta from the north of Chile but you want Torres del Paine as well. I don't see how you will do it on your budget though, not if you have to take money for the flights out of the $1200.

Why not see some of Perú, cross from Tacna to Arica, take a bus from Arica to Calama and another to San Pedro de Atacama or a direct Turbus bus from Arica to San Pedro de Atacama. There are buses 3X a week from San Pedro to Salta (11 hours and very scenic).

Tips: Chile and Argentina are a lot more expensive than Perú. If you carry a USA passport you don't pay the reciprocity fee of US$160 at land borders entering Chile but do if flying into Santiago on an international flight, as do Canadians and Australians (the amount and conditions change according to nationality). From 7 January 2013 Argentina demands a reciprocity fee for USA, Australia and Canadian passport holders, paid online before you enter Argentina at any point.

Hope that helps.
