Hello fellow travellers,
I'm a bit of a gastronomical/sommelier snob so when I visit an area that has a highly touted restaurant that's difficult to get into I sometimes make a reservation far in advance, but that's a fairly rare thing for me to do because the majority of my travel is to places that are well off the beaten path with zero famous eateries so experimentation and exploration become much more important.
