I left London in September to go India, and Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia and currently I am in Indonesia,

Kuala lumpur, thailand, vietnam, indonesia and philippines are nice places to visit Backpacking is nice but I guess you can try couchsurfing, since it helps a lot, not just for free accomodation but great tips from locals.
Its a great help aside from reading forums . Coz most of the people who will gave you tips are those who been traveled there or living on the place you want to go.
They can help you how to save on tours, what to do and not to do.. Where and what to eat and if your lucky enough, maybe they can host you and tour around .

Vietnam - Cambodia-Laos - Thailand - Singapore - Malaysia, In Vietnam, there are many famous sights: Sai Gon, Cu Chi Tunnel, Mekong Delta, Dalat, Da Nang, My Son Sanctuary, Hoian, Hue, Phong Nha Cave, Thien Duong Cave, Ha Noi, Tam Coc Bich Dong, Ha Long Bay, Sapa,...and many beautiful beach: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Con Dao. Travel costs in Vietnam are cheap, you can spend a lot of time and comfort with expected budget.

Currently you'll want to avoid the haze though. Its pretty strong around Indonesia so you'll need to check the PSI levels of different parts of the SEA region to see if they are affected, otherwise outdoor activities will be rendered extremely uncomfortable.
Also, do visit Singapore! ^^ Though tourist prices are quite high, the culture is more than worth it.
Hey do visit India.. Specially to Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand so that u will not face the heat. Then u can also plan to visit Agra for Taj Mahal......
