Having difficulty convincing my dad to let me travel

I've traveled alone twice already. Last December a day before I turned 21 and in march for spring break. I bought my ticket in advance on the first occasion and the second time I just told them I was traveling with a friend. Now I'm getting ready to travel to NYC next week Tuesday and after telling my dad I was traveling he said no! He didn't even let me even say anything. I find this rather frustrating because he decided to tell me I have to finish university first before traveling (I finish next December). That makes me wonder why he didn't say that the first time or second time I tried to travel. What do I do? I can't cancel this ticket (which isn't really an option really) plus I have so many things I'm really looking forward to doing again in New York

Why does it even bother you? You are 21 - old enough to make your decisions?

Have fun in NY!!

You are over 18, what is the problem?

I have just returned from Ireland and there is nothing better than travelling.

I guess I'm lucky because my parents did nothing but support me in my decision to spend my entire 20's on the road. So it is difficult to relate. However, I would have to agree with the others - you are an adult, you now make your own decisions. While it is nice to have your parent's blessing in your decisions, their permission is no longer required.

If you're living as an independent adult then I don't see the problem, but are there other factors at play here?

Do you live at home? Does your Father pay all or part of your living and school expenses? Is there a cultural issue?

Cheers,
Terry

Hi there!
Do you know ive been convincing my parents more than three months just to travel outside. Well, in your case, he is just concern m just talk with him and explain to him why youre going to travel. All reasons that you could tell him to agree. Good luck on your journey!

Avvy

Are you still dependant on your parents? Do you live with them? The fcat that he says no suggests you asked him, maybe that's the problem, just tell him what your plans are. How long are you planning on going for?
