Chandigarh/Amritsar

Which is more fun/interesting for a couple of days, Chandigarh or Amritsar?

Chandigarh is kinda boring... Amritsar can be fun... neither is on my top 20 list for India...

Cheers,
Terry

Thanks, and I'm not shocked to hear that. I'm just trying to fill in a few days between Srinagar and Delhi, and looking to make the transportation easy. Are there better towns a couple hours drive outside of either Amritsar or Chandigarh?
I really appreciate the help.

Are you self driving?

Cheers,
Terry

Do I sound insane?

Meaning I've been to many places in India but simply do not have the courage to drive myself....

We were in Amritsar and we spent some time walking around the Golden Temple - serene! But the real reason we were up there was to see the closing ceremony at the Wagah border between India and Pakistan (about 3pm each evening) - bizarre! It's only half an hour's drive to the west of Amritsar. And another fifteen minutes further west from the border is Lahore - the fort and Badshahi Mosque and especially the people are great reasons to spend a couple of nights in Lahore before heading back to India. Make sure your India visa allows you to return within the month though!

Chandigarh is a well developed and green city while Amritsar is a religious city.
According to your interest you can choose between them,,,,,

Chandigarh is a fun places-you must explore the night clubs, the food, the crazy people and the shopping.Amritsar is more of a religious place but is good option to explore India-it has many places which hold place in the history of Indian Independence. And these places are a must watch in India do I would suggest you to visit both but if you want to choose one among the two go for Amritsar.

In Chandigarh you can visit-
Leisure valley
Rock garden
Sukhna lake
Open hand monument
Capitol complex
and in Amritsar you can visit here
Golden temple (Harmandir Sahib)
Wagah Border
Jallianwala Bagh
Akal Takht
Ram Bagh
Faridkot Fort
