Hi.

I use a DSLR but my wife swears by her which is a shock-proof, water-proof compact camera with a zoom lens and a video facility. She's managed to take some great film of turtles, hammerhead sharks and whale-sharks while snorkelling and some good footage of the pandas at Chengdu. And it's handy if it's pouring down with rain and you want to take photos.

It was nice of some numpty to report my post.

But anyway, thanks to the post responder; those toughies look good, though unfortunately they are mostly out of my price range........How about the picture quality? - as a general rule I've read that when a similar priced camera has extra features - such as being water and shock proof or having wifi etc. it's usually at the expense of something important like picture quality. Thanks

To summarise what appears to have been deleted: Wide angle lens, small/compact, optical zoom, flash, under £200.........

The picture quality is excellent - when we mix together her photos with mine, you can't really tell which are which (although mine are more artistically composed ). For price, she bought hers in NZ for NZD400 which is exactly GPB200 (or was not long ago). And it has a flash and a panorama shot too. If I wanted a compact, I'd get an Olympus tough!
