Hi - we did the reverse route starting in Santiago and doing the four-day Inca Trail and then going on further to Nazca, Lima and Ecuador. From Santiago, we caught a plane to Calama in Chile and then a public bus to San Pedro de Atacama. From there we did a two night 4x4 drive through the salt flats of southern Bolivia to Uyuni (you can certainly do this in reverse). We took a public bus to Potosi and went down the mine there and then an overnight bus to La Paz and straight out by plane to Rurrenebaque in the jungle and a two night stop in Madidi National Park followed by a night in the pampas at San Rose. Then a plane back to La Paz for a walk around the city and a football match (Bolivar v Blooming - amazing!). Then the morning bus to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca for a night and another night on the Isla del Sol. Following this was a long bus journey into Peru, stopping at Puna for the floating islands (very touristy) and on to Arequipa and another public bus to Cabanaconde for three nights including a night down the Colca Canyon staying in San Galle. Then we took the bus back to Arequipa and stayed there for a night and then a bus to Cusco. In all this was probably about twenty days - you could miss out Cabanaconde, the Isla del Sol and the jungle and then it'd possibly fit into your ten days.
The bus journey past the volcanoes between Arequipa and Cusco was stunning, the mine in Potosi was a great experience and the salt flat tour was unmissable. We really enjoyed the football match, the Colca Canyon and the jungle but you certainly don't have time for all that.
Whatever you decide to do, the scenery around there is breath-taking!
