Travelling

Hi guys!

It's my first time traveling with my sister to Australia! I arrive in Sydney in october and will be travelling by greyhound to cairns!

Over what time period? The north of Australia doesn't have regular seasons, but just the wet and the dry season, with the wet lasting from December through March. (Expect very high humidity and frequent torrential rains; some years there's also bad flooding; Brisbane suffered quite a bit from this both in early 2011, and other places in Queensland in early 2013.) Humidity tends to already rise from November onward. So if you're taking more than a couple of weeks for this route, flying to Cairns and taking the bus south might be a more advisable route. (Of course, travel during the wet season is still possible, and as it'll be low season for tourism, it might have some good cost benefits; just be aware of what you're getting into, and for example the effect heavy rainfall has for visibility at the reef.)
