Six Senses Hotel Con Dao... STAY AWAY!!!!

I made a booking for this hotel back in April through a travel agency in Hong Kong and I was supposed to stay there during the end of May. But due to the unstable political situation in Vietnam in May I was forced to cancel my trip to Con Dao and Vietnam (I am a Chinese and there is a potential war between the 2 countries during that time due to maritime conflicts, and there is a RED Outbound Travel Alert issued by the Security Bureau of the Hong Kong Government for Vietnam due to the anti-Chinese protest happening all over the country). So I ended up having to cancel my Vietnam trip by early May.

You made the hotel reservation via a third party - your travel agent - and not with the hotel itself so I'm not surprised the hotel isn't answering you.

Since you didn't do business directly with them they feel they have no obligation to do business directly with you.

Good luck.

Cheers,
Terry

It's a wretched feeling for sure but did your travel agent tell you what the hotel's cancellation policy was? These kinds of hotels are known for having very strict cancellation policies – 100% of your stay even if you cancelled almost 2 months in advance.

Is there a chance you could claim something back on your travel insurance?

FWIW others The rate policies are on the website but buried. Some rates are refundable but some are not.
