hesitation

hi, so i have decided to go travelling after many years thinking about doing it, i have finally pushed myself and bought a one way ticket to thailand in december, i plan on travelling around s.e asia. also have a australian working visa but i keep hesitating, thinking about what im going to do job/money wise when i get back home, its so hard to get any job these days, i just keep changing my mind all the time. is this normal lol

Hi rano_pano,

Welcome to Travellerspoint!

Of course it's normal. The one way ticket has that affect due to it's open-ended nature but—and this is presuming you are going to maximise your WHV opportunity—you have no way of knowing what you will be like in two years time or what your desired job market will be like. Travelling changes you and there's no guarantee that you'll want the same things when you return home, so you can vaguely plan for it but there will be a certain amount that needs to be left open. Do all the smart things you can to ease your financial situation and then embrace your opportunities! :

bought a one way ticket to thailand in december....

One way ticket to Thailand means you should either buy a Tourist Visa or buy a plane ticket out of Thailand to another country within 30 days. To enter Thailand on a free 30 day Visa Exemption require round trip ticket or "proof of onward travel." You can't stay in any of these countries as long as you want without a proper visa.

With one way ticket to Thailand your home country airport may give you some problems without a tourist visa. Do some research on this.

(For Thailand, foreigners are not allowed to work without a work visa and they are not easy to get.)

December is the most expensive time of the year to be in Thailand. But Australia will be more expensive than this part of Asia if your funds are tight and you are not staying with friends or relatives.

Most of this link is still accurate. Thailand has tightened up on tourists staying in Thailand without proper visas.

More info on visas and other advice, do forum search for "one way flights from UK" and "proof of onward travel."

You still have time to buy Tourist Visas or plane tickets. Each country you visit in Asia will have their own entry requirements.

Take the time to figure out what you really want to do in Asia. Work up a budget and know how much money you have available for daily spending requirements. If you need hotel help include your price range. Use a baht figure for Thailand or if a different country use their currency. For Thailand - Bangkok, visit up north, usually Chiang Mai area, visit to a beach area and return to Bangkok to fly home (or elsewhere) works. There is overland transportation to other countries from Thailand.
