I am considering taking part in a 200 klm walk in Ireland - Beara Peninsula to Leitrim in the next few years and the walk will take place over 2 - 3 weeks and looking for advice from anyone who has done similar walks. I have done small walks but nothing of this size. I am nearing 60 and the reason why it must be done soon or not at all.
Sorry I meant 300 mile and it is a combination of several walks over a few weeks.
It's official - I will be walking the 500 klms commencing on 25th June 2016 and will complete the walk in 5 weeks to finish on 25th July. Plans are travelling along well at present with first week organised and accommodation found.

I plan to raise $5000 over 15 months for Cancer Queensland and the reason for the walk. Cancer has helped me set up a donation page. I have lost 2 brothers to the disease so a great reason to walk.
What a great experience that will be for you, Rianda. I am older than you and I don't think I would be able to make that same trip, but I envy you. I would surely have done it when I was younger. Ireland would be a beautiful place for this walk and June is a great time of the year. Your cause for cancer is admirable as I lost loved ones to cancer as well. I, myself had cancer, but was fortunate enough to beat it. Good luck!
Thank you. The Cancer donation page is doing well and have had support from people and areas that I never expected to gain support. Anyone can donate. I have also started a blog page which will be my travels and preparations from today until after I return in August 2016.

The Ireland walk for 2016 is organised, flights have been booked, my sister is now coming to keep me company, most of the accommodation has been organised and the walking training has started with walks most days and longer walks every couple of weeks. Our fundraising has nearly reached $4000 so very pleased with the response so far.
