8 days to go anywhere in India--where?

I'm done with a project in Delhi on October 25, and fly home to Los Angeles from Calcutta very late on November 2. Can go anywhere in India in between, and am looking for suggestions and inspiration. I've been to Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Mumbai, Kochi, Alleppey, Munnar, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Leh, Bangalore, Mysore, don't want to repeat those, but am open to most anything else. Kashmir's been a goal, but is it safe for a solo American traveler these days? Anyone have a personal favorite beyond those? Hill stations? Darjeeling? Amritsar? Hampi?
I'd be grateful for any bright ideas.
Thanks.

Amritsar is a good option.Try exploring Punjab this time, the punjabi people, their colorful attires, their language, places and food would definitely amaze you.

Yes, Offcourse Kashmir is safe. You can also visit places like Golden temple (Amritsar), Manali, Shimla, Rishikesh, Mussoorie. Yes Darjeeling can be a good option. All the best. ENJOY these best places.

Thanks for all that. After all those years of the US State Department advising that Kashmir was unsafe, I was listening to everyone else and planning to go--until just now someone told me that everyone's expecting Muslim extremists to be energized as a result of Modi's election. No? I sure would like to see Srinagar.
