I am planning my first travelling experience with a friend. So far I have my heart set on 25 days organised trip in China, starting in Hong Kong and also ending in Hong Kong.
We were thinking a month in south east Asia. Would this be enough time?
If I only have a month what shall I fill it with? What are the must sees/dos?

Since this would be your first time travelling independently I would suggest Thailand.
It's arguably the easiest "foreign" destination on the planet for first time travellers. It has hosted millions of low budget backpackers over several decades so its tourist infrastructure is excellent. It is covered in great detail by all the major guide books so it's super easy to research.
