Female solo traveller- where's best to stay in bali?

Katiea723 has indicated that this thread is about Bali

Try this site www.nusaduahotel.com great location 20 minutes from the airport and if you book 3 nts they will offer free transfers then a transfer to Ubud should be about $30

Think that one might be a bit out of my price range as it's coming up £165 a night
Thankyou tho it does look beautiful & would stop there if I wasnt on a budget

Unless you are into the party scene, I would direct you away from first Kuta and second Seminyak. If you are traveling to Bali for the "Bali" experience (culture, food, spiritual, etc),,,SKIP Kuta and Seminyak. On the other hand if you want to surf, and party, enjoy yourself there.

Sanur has a niece beach, less of the party scene and quite beautiful. It's much less expensive than Nusa Dua to stay overnite. You can do a search on "tripadvisor" for Sanur and get an idea of the area and prices. Swastika Bungalows is reasonably priced, and has a pool. Sanur is a much "safer" place for a single female in my opinion. You will be constantly hawked in Kuta by street people, (non-Balinese). I avoid Kuta like the plague.

An even quiter and very nice area on the shoreline is Candi Dasa (chandie dasa). Plenty of things to see and do there for a few days(good local shopping, food, etc). Very peaceful and stunning sunrises and sets.
If you would like to treat yourself for a nite or two, try out Candi Beach Resort and spa. My wife and I stay here for a few nites during our visits.

While in Ubud, you must take an early morning trek through the ricefields on ridgewalk. Plan a few hours, add an extra hour if you are a shutterbug and a bit more if you would care to stop for some fresh fruitjuice , bali coffee, and a bite to eat at Sari Organic ( a small warung set in the middle of the ricefields). If you have a day to spare, try a downhill bike tour. Very reasonable price for what you will see, do, and eat. Bali Eco Bike tour is a good company. And you should find a discount through your place you stay at.

I could go on and on but I will stop here. Every village and area of the Island is different in its own way. Enjoy your trip. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me.

Wow that's amazing thanks for all the information I will look into it all and have a look at sanur.
There are lots of activities included in the bali experience with the 2 in Ubud u mentioned. It looks amazing can't wait to get out there.
But yes was thinking of treating myself to a few nights of luxury before I start Ubud and then head onto backpacking in Oz.

Thanks for your help
