Hi jessica!! just my 2 cents. i like to travel because life is about collecting experiences, the more you collect meaningful experiences, the more your life is fulfilled, meaningful and well-spent.

What do you exactly mean with your question? Would you like to know what keeps people from travelling (so why they don't travel?) or why people do travel? :P
Things that kept me from travelling for a longer period in the past were mainly my studies and my job, and money. But soon I will get my degree and quit my job, so I will have the time to travel for a long period (I think 6 - 12 months).
And the reason why I love to travel is mainly that I want to see the world, and also my urge to experience complete freedom. I feel this longing to experience complete freedom without having any obligations is as important to me as the travelling itself (ie. experience life in other countries, meet interesting people, etc). Just the feeling when I arrive in an exotic place and not being sure if I will still be there the next week or will leave within 2 days feels great to me: being able to do whatever I want without having a schedule. This feeling originates form something I found out during my first backpack trip and which enriched my life: the feeling that I could go (almost) anywhere in the world on my own without much planning and without having to doubt if it would be easy to make it: it is always easy if there are people.
