Sight Recommendations for the West coast

Hi all!! I'm planning a trip to the west coast in August for about 10 days and wanted to know if there are any sights I absolutely MUST see. TIA!

Hey there! West coast is too big for me to provide an answer, but I know lots of it. Not sure where you're from, but your question is similar to "I have ten days in western europe, where should I go?" See what I mean? So much to do, see, so many things!

I'll try an answer anyway, just based on my own personal preferences until I know yours:
I would go to Seattle for a few days, Portland and surrounds for a few days, and finish my trip in San Francisco via the Redwoods. (Which means missing out on Hwy 1 along the coast).

Hope that helps!

Here are the list of places I have narrowed it down to, sacramento, napa valley, san francisco, santa barbara, beverly hills, los angeles, long beach, grand canyon and las vegas.

Hi Elinka! I traveled for about 3 weeks up and down the coast as well as around the southwest. You definitely want to see the Redwoods. Try to travel on California State Route 1 because they takes you through beautiful Big Sur. Definitely hit up the Grand Canyon and Vegas if you can and try to make a stop over at Death Valley!

Fun list! I would say with 10 days and seven places on your list (I'm grouping LA stuff into one) to skip Sacramento for sure. Next I'd skip Los Angeles unless you have something specific you want to see there. Same with Long Beach. It's nice, but wouldn't you rather see Vegas or the Grand Canyon?

You could go San Francisco up to Napa for the day (that's a loooong day, but fun!).
Then San Fran for Day 2, driving to Santa Barbara day 3 (a really really really long day - like 5 a.m. to after 10 p.m. once you stop and enjoy all the gorgeous sights along Hwy 1).
Day 4 you could spend most of in SB, then drive to Beverly Hills in the evening.
Day 5 in Beverly Hills
Day 6 drive to Vegas
Day 7 in Vegas
Day 8 drive to Grand Canyon
Day 9 in Grand Canyon
Day 10 make your way back to your departure airport (or maybe you are flying out of Phoenix and can tack on a day elsewhere?)

Hope that helps!

Hi all!!! Wow thank you so much for the feedback! I am beginning my trip in Sacramento for a friends wedding, not much to see there otherwise as you also confirmed. My trip after Sacramento would be from the 8th of august (after 3pm) until the 23rd of august. The first weekend I wanted to spend in LA, and the second in Las Vegas. Also, I did some research about a helicopter tour from Las vegas that takes you over the grand canyon, which I thought would be a great idea. Any thoughts? Everything south of LA would mainly be lounging and checking out the long beach strips. and then off to Vegas.
Thank you all in advance, looking forward to hearing from you !
E!

Sounds like you've got yourself pretty sorted! You must be flying? My perfect version of this trip:

Drive Sac to Napa to SF.
Fly SF to Vegas (usually pretty affordable, especially if you go Thurs vs Friday) for the weekend. Helicopter tour to Grand Canyon would be cool if you've got the $$.
Fly Vegas to LA (again pretty affordable). Rent a car to run up to SB and drive around LA (it's a sprawling place, can be done sans car, but takes a long time).

Santa Barbara is nice, but not my favorite coastal mission town. If you end up missing out on this one for whatever else comes up, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hope that helps!

That sounds like a great plan!!! Unfortunately Id like to cut out as much flying as possible as I am flying in from New York City, so hopefully thats the only flying Ill be doing (NYC to Sac and Las Vegas to NYC) and the helicopter ride (hopefully).

Based on personal experience I will recommend San Diego.

Thank you, im super excited, this is my first visit to Cali
