Vietnam Itinerary Help

Mikew91 has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

I going to south east Asia in six weeks or so and plan to hit Vietnam basically doing the same schedule though am just doing a day tour to the Mekong delta, hitting mui ne and nha trang as I have more time.Wouldnt stay in Danang I think it's just a big industrial city would transfer to hoi an and stay there it's meant to be great beautiful market town and its close to some nice beaches, you can take a taxi to China beach where the American g.i's went for r and r and marble mountain. would also recommend a motorbike tour from hoi an to hue rather than the train, just google hoi an easy riders, happy travels looks an amazing country.

Itinerary looks awesome, couple of things from experience...

Didn't think much of Hue, beautiful place but compared to the others it's not that great.

I would suggest looking at Dalat - beautiful place, me and my fiancé loved it there, one of our favourite locations.

Look into Sappa too, we didn't get a chance but looks amazing. We passed over danang, didn't hear great things about it.

Overall Vietnam is our favourite country, beautiful place, enjoy.

I have some must-visit places in Vietnam here:

Ho Chi Minh: is a large and modern city. It's very beautiful in the evening but you cannot see anything except for tall buildings. But you should visit some historical sites there to learn more about Vietnamese history.

Mekong Delta: a good place to visit if you love nature. You should spend 2-3 days there.

Dalat: has perfect climate. It is ideal place for couples rather than single travelers. There are many flower villages in Dalat. The best time to visit Dalat is October.

Mui Ne: is about 220 km from Ho Chi Minh City. This is my best favorite attraction. Coming here you will see luxury resorts, the quite roads, the stunning beaches, huge sand hills and enjoy best seafood with very reasonable price.

Hue: the old capital of Vietnam. This place is rather peaceful. There is no outdoor activities except for visiting the citadels

Hoi An-Danang: many travelers love these places so there is no reasons for you to miss them.

Sapa: is a great place to visit if you like magnificent mountains, waterfall, the villages of minority ethnic people

Hanoi: is the capital of Vietnam so there is a lot of things to do with it but I recommend you spending a day to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and some museums nearby.

Go to sapa there is no question about it the place is beautiful!! And completely different with tribes, etc. Also another place not many people know is ban gioc, here there is an amazing waterfall, top 25 in the world, check it out on google, it borders china, its kind of a long trek to get to you have to go to cao bang from hanoi then 2 hours from there but, the view is worth it alone. I also agree with oli, delat is great dont forget canyoning its a must do!!!

if ur on a budget, da nang is the way to go

Your itinerary is very interesting. If you travel from July - Sept, I would like to suggest you to visit Sapa, the rice terrace look beautiful at that time.

HCMC for 2 days
Mekong Delta 2 nights/3 days ( overnight on boat or homestay)
Back to HCMC for 1 night.
Overnight train to Danang
Da Nang and Hoi an for 4 nights
Train to Hue
Hue for 3 nights ( Hue only 2 nights are enough)
Overnight train to Hanoi
Hanoi free on arrival day or visit countryside near Hanoi as Duong Lam Village or take some tour in Ninh Binh.
Take train or bus to Sapa, stay there for 2 nights. If your date on Sunday, try to visit Bac Ha Market, one time a week.
Back to Hanoi then take Halong Bay 2 or 3 days tour.
Gluck!
