New Zealand- travel help, places to go, budget etc

Katiea723 has indicated that this thread is about South Island (New Zealand)

Hi.

Three weeks is a real hurry to try to get round both islands. There is much more to see than in Australia, in my opinion.

If you're going to do the three weeks, maybe just do one island and save the other for another time, Depending on your pace of travel I'd say try to spend three months travelling all of NZ.

Costs are a bit cheaper than Australia I think. Groceries a bit dearer than in the UK, hostel beds about £10. Some things are cheap - eg pizza hut and Domino's having a price war means a carry out pizza for $5 / £2.50.

There is so much to see in NZ if you love amazing views & the outdoors. Everyone things NZ is a tiny place but it really isn't. Still takes time to get from one place to another & the roads are quite windy in some areas so takes a bit longer.

The dollar is pretty much even with Australia at the moment, but I think it's bit cheaper in NZ for food (from what I can remember visiting Australia) but will be more expensive than the UK.

Could always get a working holiday visa in NZ =)
