I'm going to be going late September. I don't have much of a plan yet (eek!) but I know I want to stop in China or Thailand on the way to break up the long flight. I'll be starting in Perth and then making my way to Sydney for Christmas/New Year -- are you doing the work/travel visa?
A lot of people do intro tours from STA etc so it might be worth checking that out!

I am planning on heading to Sydney around October time and would most likely be going from Heathrow. I want to explore for the first week or two then would probably want to find a working hostel.

I'm going to be in Sydney on the 11th of November. I'm also travelling alone, doing a mini round the world trip from London - USA - Fiji - Oz - SE Asia - London! I've looked into tours and stuff but to be honest they seem pretty expensive and I think they catch people who are worried about being alone. People that I know who have travelled before alone advised me you meet so many people in hostels the initial tours are a waste of money.
If anyone's from London let me know, it'll will be good to catch up on our adventures before we jet off

im looking to go out in September alone for a year but im not sure whether or not to do a tour as a lot of people have said its a waste of money. I have looked at some tours and they are a lot of money considering they are only for a week or two! I think im just going to wing it a bit, apply for a visa and book flights out but its so scary. Im looking into the hop on hop off bus tour from Sydney to Cairns as Im sure I will meet people on the tour and in hostels aswell. It also means I can travel up the East coast and make stop offs on the way as I want to travel a bit first and also work a few months somewhere. I really want to go to Alice Springs! Where are you thinking of going and how long are you staying in Australia? I would probably be going from Heathrow too! xxxx

In also flying out in September, early September and having an introduction week with ultimate Oz. I've heard also they're possibly a waste but I feel a little more confident knowing I've got my first week sorted.
I'm trying to travel as much as I can first before I have to find work and looking at doing the east coast but not sure whether to book it as a trip or hire a camper van with a few people or something!

I've done a bit of research with some of my dads help and we've found that if you do the greyhound bus, you can get 10 nights in 'Base' hostels with it costing around £312.00! So I think I'm going to do that from 6th/7th October from Sydney to Cairns. So if anyone is around and wants to join up and do it with me then give me a shout on here to my inbox!
If I do that with Greyhound, then I can organise my own trips and just hop on and off when I want to. If we find some of us that want to group up and do something, i'm up for whatever!
I'm in Oz for only a month so I want to make the most of it and do a load of crazy stuff haha! I'll probably be back in January though!
