Trip feedback? Ireland

mllorusso has indicated that this thread is about Ireland

Really the best way to get around is by car to visit all the out of the way places or you will miss a lot and spend much of your time waiting for buses and such.

Weather in Ireland can make or break a holiday.

My advice is to NOT try to fit too much into your 2 weeks, as tempting as it. Ireland is tiny on the map, but this is deceptive. It takes a lot longer to get around than you'd expect, so don't try to cram in seeing all the major cities or sites, as you'll spend your entire time on the road.
I second the above about car being the best way to get around. It's doable by public transport though, so if you're not keen on renting a car, I'd pick a couple of different bases and then explore from there- So Galway, Dublin, Belfast & either Killarney or Kerry if you want to see the south.

I agree not to try and do too much in such a short time, Ireland is beautiful and so are it's people and they love to talk so you will have to factor that into your schedule also ;-) I'm not sure how you feel about hangovers but your bound to have a couple in Ireland! Do you enjoy live music gigs you will find plenty any day of the week in any city town or village. You have no worries about fun things to do there are plenty.

Ennis in Clare is also another city option it's small quaint a home to many small traditional pubs playing traditional irish music especially if your driving, as you will need to stop somewhere if your planning driving from donegal to kerry thats a lot of driving & if your taking public transport its going to be a nightmare!

If you decide to take public transport there are direct buses buseirann and trains irishrail between

Dublin Cork
Dublin Belfast
Dublin Killarney possibly via cork I can't remember
Dublin Galway

local services also but check schedules as they do not run daily most of the time

prices are reasonable at times.

check out either the accommodation option on here or hostel world for places to stay you dont mention budget maybe air b&b is more your thing? You have plenty of options.

Unfortunately bus and train services do not connect that well in Ireland and it can be a big pain but the great thing about a car is getting lost & driving around Ireland it's a truly a pleasure experience

and yes weather is a big factor it's the chance you take I'm afraid but if you find a nice cosy pub especially on a chilly night in the country with a nice fire a few pints of guinness & an open mic session you really will have experienced the magical island of Ireland
