Trip feedback? Europe 2015

We are soon setting off from South Yorkshire to do a whistle stop tour of some of the amazing cities in eastern Europe. Feel free to make any suggestions to help us make the most of the places we are visiting.

Hi

You've some good places planned, and very cheap. Austria will be a shock afterwards!

Bratislava city centre is small and easy to explore. Nice brewpub behind castle. We took a local bus out to do a forest walk to tv tower where there is a viewpoint and bar.

Budapest has lots - including lots of spas. Szechyeni is a good one, historic buildings.

Belgrade - the castle is free, more of a public park. Struggling to think of specific suggestions but it was my favourite place out of your itinerary.

Nice little list.

I've enjoyed both Zagreb and Belgrade although be prepared for Serbians not being the most welcoming people in the world!

Belgrade does have its charms though, and it's fantastically cheap. As mentioned above the old fort is a great place to explore and you can sit in a lovely bar set among the walls that overlooks the rivers and the cityscape.

By comparison Zagreb seems a lot more polished and clean. You can tell that Croatia is doing a lot better than Serbia, thanks primarily due to the huge influx of tourists its enjoyed in recent years with all its beautiful coastline and thousands of stunning Adriatic islands.

Serbia has no coastline and doesn't do much to encourage tourism. But that's not to say it isn't worth seeing. Check out the Nikola Tesla museum and get one of the tours (included in the ticket price, so worth waiting for one in English) where they show off some of the exhibits with live demonstrations.

The best beer in Croatia is Karlovacko or Pan. In Serbia go for the one that starts with a 3
