I lived in Perth for over 8 months back in 2012 and loved it
If it's nightlife you're after then Northbridge is the place to be as it's full of backpackers/bars/restaurants. I hired a car with a couple of friends and drove up (north) to see the Pinnacles and stopped in Jurien Bay on the way back, and we also went to Busselton (south) which was really nice. You could take a trip down to Margaret River and visit a winery, or do a Swan Valley winery tour too. There's lots to do really, depending on what you're interested in, and budget too of course! Hope that's of some help anyway...
