Have a look at listings. Those prices are per week, but should be a good indication. The prices will generally be cheaper the further you are from the CBD.

At a rough guess, I reckon you'd be looking at around $200 per week.
Make sure you see if the area is right for you before you commit to a place. Melbourne's fabulous, I love it, but every area is really quite different. If you're going to stay close to the city (say Southbank or Docklands), the experience will be entirely different to living in a hipster area (Fitzroy or Brunswick) and again, if you're living in the suburbs it's so radically different once again.
