Thailand

Hi

Any recommendations appreciated....

Even though there may be a little more rain at this time there will still be many tourists visiting. This is when hotels are cheaper too.

Chiang Mai nearer the top and Koh Phangan further south. Will your budget allow for a little flying to save time?

Maybe knock off one of the beach areas at least. If you spend the final night in Bangkok you can do do your last minute souvenir buying at that time.

(Remember that Bangkok has two airports that are not close together. Know which one you fly from if making transfers.)

Usually young tourists put Koh Phangan on their list of places to visit. There are some hoops to jump through to get there. But in case you are male, a little older and looking for adult partying Pattaya is nearer to Bangkok and cheaper but the beach is not used by tourists for swimming. (Sun bathing, nightlife, restaurants,, shopping okay at beach area.) Slightly older, Hua Hin is closer to Bangkok. If a woman Phuket, like Bali, is popular with women. But more expensive than Bangkok.

Since you have been to Bangkok before you probably know that Bangkok has pretty good city rail service with connections from Suvarnabhumi too. There are hostels and hotels that you can get to by rail. (But not for arrivals between midnight to 6 a.m.)

Since you have been to Koh Samui before maybe stick to places closer to Bangkok and Chiang Mai this time.

Your choice.

I would say that was a good balance for 2 weeks. I would probably suggest that after Koh Phi Phi you have one night in Krabi though, and then catch a flight from Krabi to Chiang Mai.

Also, an organised day trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi is worth doing, dependng on how long you have left at the end of your holiday.
