Solo travelling to Oz in July 2015

Hi
I'm a single female teacher in my late 20's off to spend the 6 weeks summer holidays in Oz. Flying to Sydney where I plan on staying for a week then over to Melbourne for 4/5 days then going to head north - cairns and around there then over to Darwin.
Get intouch if you have similar plans!

Hey

Im heading over to Sydney on the 15th July give me a shout if your still there.

Jay

I'll be in Sydney on the 20th. How long u in Oz for?

Hey
I live in Sydney so will be around... just remember in July and august sydney and Melbourne are really cold so don't waste to much time as they are both just big cities, the surrounding areas can be beautiful but in the summer they are much better.
Heading up the East Coast especially between Brisbane -cairns there is so much to do and it is hot so focus a lot of your time there. The national parks around Darwin are beautiful and worth 5-7 days to explore!

Hey Ellie,

As previously mentioned it's getting a little chilly in Sydney now so moving up the coast is a good idea, 5/7 days in Sydney is a good amount of time I think.

When traveling up the coast two must do things I would recommend is Fraiser Island and Whitsundays.. Both have breathtaking views to offer. I've mentioned in another post about a company called Wicked Travel, they are who I booked my east Coast with, I smoke to a gent called Grant at their Pitt street branch and he really knew his stuff!

When you get to Cairns, a really good day trip to do is 'Captain Mattys Barefoot Tour'. It's a water based day, visiting waterfalls, swimming in volcanic lakes and other bits and pieces, a very fun day out.

Hope this helps

Im going on a WHV, so a year to start and if I like it I will stay another year. I was actually planning on going to Sydney and working for a few months. Would prefer to work the winter and travel the summer.

Hi Jay,

Not a bad plan, although I know a few people that have done something similar and haven't been able to travel because they ran out of money. Something very easily done in Sydney!! My advice would be to travel first if you can, that way you have done the things you want before your funds run out.

Another bonus is that employers see you as more employable after you have traveled, as they think you are less likely to leave them in the lurch to go and see the coast.

Hope this helps

Hi Ellie,

When are you proposing to visit Cairns? That is my starting point in August for my 1 year in Australia!

Hiya
I was hoping to be there around the start of August, just see where things take me!

I'll be doing the east coast cairns-sydney or the other way round 25th July -19th august. Let me know if you fancy it
