Been in Cairns for 2 weeks, should I stay or move on?

Hi Helen,

It depends on what sort of work you're looking for. Cairns is a great town but most travellers to Australia I think would have more luck finding work in the bigger cities, such as Melbourne and Sydney. In Melbourne, all our local cafes here are at least 50 percent staffed by overseas travellers.

In saying that, the southern cities are cold right now whereas Cairns' weather should be sweet. Brisbane and the Gold Coast could be an option, but again depending on what work you're trying to find. One of my favourite places in Australia is down around the Margaret River region - but it's not going to be warm there right now.

Thanks Cat!
I see your point, guess it takes some luck to get hired here in Cairns...
Well we may change our plan to go dive first and then move on to the big cities!
enjoy the weather as much as we could

The Margaret River region you mentioned, do you mean to find vineyard related jobs?
Is it the harvest or planting season now? thanks!

Helen
