Grand Canyon

Hi I'm new to this group and this is my first time posting.
I'm planning to travel to the Grand Canyon late this August. Has anyone done this with a toddler? What was your experience? Are there any hikes that can be done with a small child? Camping sites? I would love to get the full experience even though we're taking a child along. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

About the only thing I would say is that August is going to be extremely hot like in high 90s to low 100s (although keep in mind that in close-by Flagstaff, because of the altitude difference, it may snow in August).
Your toddler will not really appreciate the danger, so keep them away from the rim as many accidents can happen, and so caution is necessary.

If you are going this far, I recommend that you also go to the south end of Lake Powell and also Monument Valley if you have an extra day or two. They are not as dramatic as the Grand Canyon, but still very much worth a visit. Also, just a couple of hours drive south of Flagstaff is Sedona, which is also worth a visit.

Enjoy.
