To all of us travellers who have visited Greece and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of that nation, it is heartbreaking to see what is happening now. Let us salute this troubled land which has given us such wonderful memories!
Greece is definitely on my bucket list. . I have found the Greeks to be very friendly. Maybe now is a good time to go and visit. They could use all the economic input from tourists. I would be fulfilling one of my desired trips and helping them at the same time. It looks like a win-win situation.
thank for sharing it, but given the financial crisis there, it is advisable to go there these days?
Everything is normal in Greece for a traveler. No fuel shortages, no food shortages, no social unrest or whatever...
Unfortunately the Europe section of travellerspoint's forum is more or less dead (I do not know what about other forum sections...) but if you look on more active forums such as say Trip Advisor Greece forum, you will see tons of recent trip reports from people who came in Greece and had a great time and were left scratching their heads about the rubbish media reports...
I spent a month on the Greek Islands in 1999. Was one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever been on. It is paradise there.
@jesky, things are going good so far, at least as far as tourists are concerned.
mariha2912 is right, head on to tripadvisor, ricksteves or fodor's and you'll get to check for yourself with people who have just returned or are there right now.
From what I've seen so far, hotels, tours and flights are still getting booked at the same rate.
