Bangkok is the last place you should be feeling lonely! As one of the most popular tourist destinations for Westerners, you should have no problem meeting like-minded travellers!
There are plenty of affordable and cost-effective tour companies within Bangkok that you can use to see the city. Although, if it's just travel companions you're looking for, remember to always be outgoing and open for new experiences/challenges.
I truly hope you enjoy your time in Bangkok. It's a great place to be travelling!

You can sign on to tours through local travel agencies. Stop in and see what they have, choose a tour, pick up from your hotel. Usually in a van with 7 - 9 other tourists. Who knows you might get lucky!
Beer bars, pubs, go-go bars in Nana area. Stop in a pub or beer bar and who knows you might meet someone.
If you selected a hotel near the Skytrain route that rail system is helpful for getting around the city. If you chose Khao San Road area no Skytrain available but you do have some things you can walk to.
I would take some tours during the day and hit some beer bars in Nana area at night time! (Nana area is where I would choose for a hotel but I am an old fart and like things nearby that I can walk to. Such as restaurants, rail service, nightlife, malls, street vendors, travel agencies, etc.)
You can always do a Google type search too!
