India (New Delhi) to Nepal (Kathmandu) land border crossing

Hello,

Ok, since no replies to this message, I will comment on it myslef We crossed the land border from India to Nepal at Sunauli at the end of November 2015 and came back to India from Nepal (land border crossing towards Siliguri in India). All was fine and safe, just the border looked slightly messy, since there is a visa free regime between India and Nepal and people are walking, riding whatever means of transport back and forth freely. As there are very few foreigners crossing the border and a lot of movement around, sometimes you may even miss some immigration checkpoint (e.g. exit the country without a stamp in your passport, which would cause problems later), as no one is really stopping you when you walk along the border. Otherwise, it was fully safe and smooth.

Thanks for the update. I'll be in the Himalayas this summer.

Another destination can be Bhutan

Yes, I've been to beautiful Bhutan, traveling for two weeks in November 2014, going from Paro to Thimpu, Punakha, Jakar, Mongar, Trashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar before entering Assam and visiting Kaziranga National Park, Majuli island with its monasteries; and Nameri National Park.

The flight from New Delhi to Paro was fabulous, with a view of Mt. Everest from the left side of the Druk Air plane. The festivals were marvelous, and so were the hikes.

I would like to return to Bhutan to see the rhododendrons in bloom. But this time I'm going to other places in the Himalayas.

There aren't many young tourists in Bhutan as the government requires a minimum per-day spending amount (usually $200 to $250, depending on the season) for a package tour in order to get a visa.

Thank you very much for sharing this.. I am from India but was not aware of this

thanks for the best information about. I am working in tour and travel company but i don't have Nepal tour packages .

thanks
