Hello Travelers!
I don't know any exceptions. However, the 180 days is a sliding window, with no fixed start date. So you wouldn't need to leave the Schengen area for 90 days before you can come back, but only for 17 days (181-164). After those 17 days, if you return, each day you spend inside Schengen would be compensated by a day from January which is falling out of the window. So you could stay for quite a few weeks still, for a period as long as your arrival in the Netherlands until your first departure. So if you have the time, I'd recommend spending 2.5 weeks in the UK, and then going to see France and Germany.
(Do note, btw, when counting days inside Schengen, that they're "inclusive". So arrival and departure days count fully as being inside Schengen.)
