All these three islands you mentioned, are realy amazing. I' ve been to all and I suggest them with my heart. Santorini and Milos are volcanic islands. Everywhere, every little corner is breathtaking. Milos and Mykonos (a lot of parties and night life) have excellent sea and beaches, Santorini has the kaldera, marvelous villages and the ancient Thira, a whole ancient city. And if you like walking, try to find the trail from Fyra (the main village) to Oia. A trail in the edge of kaldera (the volcanos rim), with the sea 100m below and the the horizon and the colors........
September is a very good period. Not so crowdy not so hot.
If you stay in Mykonos you ought to visit (half day trip) ansient Dilos island. Divain place. Gods were born there. Sacred place. All an archological site.
