I live in El Salvador and often go over to neighboring Guatemala where I used to reside, in early April, before the Easter holiday, I visited, the day I returned our Bus left some 5 hours late since the connecting bus from Mexico was dealyed because of a teachers strike blocking the road in western Guatemala, I have been in cars and on buses that have broken down on the road in Central America, have been delayed because of mudslides in the rainy season, hurricanes, rainstorms which caused flash flooding on the coast among other things, part of the adventure of travel and life in the tropics, if you do have a tight travel schedule, do be a bit flexible, just like at home, some of the most awful travel experiences I have had were on Greyhound buses in the USA, really too bad hitchiling in many areas is either illegal or dangerous or both, really miss hitching!!!!!!
