I am using an ipad and sending in my blog posts via email, by selecting photos first (5 max are allowed) and sending these to my blogemailaddress.
Problem is, photos that are showing as portrait in my email and my photolibrary are showing as landscape on my blog. I can rotate them in the gallery, but this does not rotate the photos in the blog post.
I fear for the moment the best I can suggest is that you re-insert the photos into the blogpost, at which time it'll take the rotated version. The rotated photo has a different filename, and so the old, unrotated photo is still being accessed by the old filename as inserted into the blogpost.
Long term, I suspect there's a couple of improvements here which could be made programatically by the admins:
Sam/Peter: I thought there was automatic photo rotation recognition nowadays? Sounds like that needs to be added to the moblogging upload path, too. Also, might be worth adding a level of indirection between filename and simplecode? Make (img=photoid) work, so that rotations automatically get picked up.
I'm pretty sure there was a fix for the rotated issue (also when moblogging), but perhaps that is only picking up iphone pics, and not doing the same for ipad photos. I've asked Peter about it!
This problem should now be resolved - emailed in photos were indeed not being rotated automatically. We've added a fix and tested with a few photos to ensure it's working right now.
To fix the old photos, you will unfortunately have to re-insert the photos as Sander mentioned because it's tied strictly to the filename which changes when you rotate it (to avoid caching).
Works like magic! Thanks very much for this!
Other related photo question, on our blog not all photo's always show. They're in the gallery, but come up as a questionmark on the post. See our latest as an example http://robenjeroen.travellerspoint.com/28/
The 3rd and 4th picture don't show. Could this be an Ipad glitch?
Thanks!
The image holders are pointing to 3foto_3_JPG.jpg and 3foto_4_JPG.jpg respectively, but in your photo gallery the filenames are actually 270_3foto_3_JPG.jpg and 270_3foto_3_JPG.jpg.
Not sure how the "270_" got omitted, though, when you did the photo insert. Could you try to insert the same photos again and see if it actually has the "270_" in the filename? If there isn't, then there's a bug somewhere.
I can't (or don't know how to) redo the photo insert as I'm working from an iPad - using email to insert photo's in the blog. One post prior I have the same issue with two photo's - also with "_270" in the photo file name, but not in the email post...
There's an issue with the inserting - it's now doing the rotating right, but still inserting the filename belonging to the unrotated image. We'll get a fix up for that problem.
Hi Peter,
Any luck with the fix for the rotating problem?
Thanks!
Jeroen
